Named by French performing rights society ADAMI as a 'révélation classique', and a 2011 award holder from the Fondation Cziffra, Louis Rodde began his studies with Philippe Bary, continued at the CNSM with Roland Pidoux and Xavier Phillips, and received further tuition from Peter Bruns at the Leipzig Hochschule.
Alongside his engagement with the Trio Karénine, Louis can regularly be heard as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe in such halls as the Musikverein in Vienna, and the Cité de la Musique and the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord in Paris. He also performs with orchestras, in concertos by Haydn, Saint-Saëns and Dvorak amongst others. His concerts are frequently broadcast on France Musique and Radio Classique.
Louis is a guest at numerous festivals, including the Encuentro de Santander, the Chorégies d’Orange, the Festival International de La Roque d'Anthéron (ensemble in residence), the Pablo Casals Festival in Prades, the Cziffra Festival in Unieux, the Rencontres de Violoncelle de Bélaye, the Sen Liszt Festival and the Jeunes Talent Festival.
Equally passionate about ensemble playing, Louis has performed with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra in Amsterdam, where he was a member of the orchestra academy, and participates regularly in projects with the ensembles Les Dissonances, Le Concert Idéal, Le Balcon, and Les Violoncelles Français.
Louis has received support from the Meyer and SYLF foundations, as well as from the Académie de Villecroze. In 2011/2012 he was a scholarship holder of the German Academic Exchange Service, and in 2012 a beneficiary of the Accenture Foundation. He has enjoyed success in competitions at Epernay (1st prize) and Flame (2nd prize). Louis plays a cello made especially for him by luthier Jean-Louis Prochasson.
